Cornwall and The Lake District

September 26, 2024 Safari complete, today, we fly out of Africa to green and pleasant England, to hike Cornwall and the Lake District.

The Broadway Runs

Aug 25, 2022: Broadway, England. I managed a few solitary Broadway runs, through steeples, stiles, sheep and rain. It was fantastic, despite the sop and stinging nettle.

Stanton and Snowshill

Aug 26, 2022: Broadway, England. We rambled a second Cotswold circular to Stanton and Snowshill. Lost and wandering in the woods, we spied our first wild deer in England!

The Cotswold Way

Aug 24, 2022: Broadway, England. Today we did a real English Ramble along the beautiful Cotswold Way, with sweeping views, steeples, pubs, and of course, sheep.

Loughrigg Fell

September 16, 2022: Ambleside, England. Loughrigg Fell, with fells, meadows, lakes, caves, and pubs may make the “Top-10-MnJ-Hikes” list. Outstanding!

The Catbells

September 15, 2022: Keswick, England. Today we climbed up and up to the Summits of Catbells and Maiden Moor, with views over the Derwentwater. Brilliant!

Castlerigg Stone Circle

September 15, 2022: Keswick, England. On a green plateau surrounded by high fells stands the Castlerigg Stone Circle, with sheep in constant vigil.

The Pencil Museum

September 15, 2022: Keswick, England. Yes, we are in the beautiful English Lakes District, and went to the Pencil Museum. And found a history full of intrigue!

The White Cliffs of Dover

August 20, 2022: Dover, England. I recall sitting in music class as a kid and singing the old folk song and wondering “where the heck are Harlem and Dover?”
